A week of new things: Game launcher and Level Designer

This week we got a little surprise from our Art Director, Oksana, and our Lead Developer, Bob. They have been working on a “secret project” behind the scenes for the past couple weeks, and this week they unveiled it to the rest of the team -a shiny new launcher for Zy Universe! 


This is the second iteration of the start screen when launching the game. The smoke, fire and floating embers are animated in the actual game scene.
You can check out the launcher we replaced below to see how far we’ve come. It's ugly and doesn't have any sweet animated elements, but it got the job done.



In addition to our fun new launcher, we also welcomed a new member of the team this week: our new Level Designer, Daniel!

Daniel comes to us fresh out of school, where he studied level design, and thanks to his education, he already has chops with Unity he's ready to put to use. Daniel will be taking over the daunting task of building the levels which Oksana has designed over the past several months.

Oksana will still be very much involved in the level design process. Though her role will now be to focus primarily on making the levels more beautiful instead of worrying about the collisions and designs of all of the areas that players will duke it out in. We’re very excited to see what Daniel comes up with in the weeks ahead.
