Bringing Our Character Back to Life

As we continue to inch our way forward after our first glimpse video from week three of this blog, one of our biggest focuses has been to replace any and all assets that we purchased from Unity’s asset store with our own. This includes all of the animations.

[Don't you think now is as good as time as any to join our Discord? We do.]

In the gameplay video, all of the character animations shown are taken from an animation pack that we purchased to expedite our progress. We had to modify several of the animations that we used, but it still wasn't ours. One of our driving core values of the project is to do all of the art, animations, code, music and sounds ourselves. As tremendous of a resource the Unity asset store is, we are dedicated to creating every part of this project from scratch (except the engine, of course) so that in the end, this game belongs entirely to this amazing team. With all of that said, we just started re-working our animations for our next upcoming build. Nothing too exciting, but here is a sample of our idle animation.

And for fun, here is our soldier doing a little victory strut.
