Level Update, Chests, and a New Team Member!

This week is very exciting for our team as we welcome a new member, Oliver, to our ranks as Lead Systems Designer. Oliver comes to us with years of experience in the gaming industry, having already designed successful titles in his past. In the weeks to come, he will be taking the vision of Zy Universe, and refining it all the way down to the smallest detail. He will work out all of the nitty-gritty, crunching the numbers to ensure that every mechanic is well balanced. Oliver’s arrival takes a huge strain off of our development team, allowing them to focus on development and not worry about the technical design so much. Welcome to the team, Oliver!

[Join the official Discord to be the first to see these updates and more from the Zy Universe team.]

A couple of weeks ago we highlighted our Lead Artist Oksana’s design process. If you missed that one, you can check it out here.
Below is a quick screen grab of her progress since then with building out the level prototype. Let us know what you think! Does it look like a good place to get lost?
Notice on the right side, you can see part of the level section we used in our first gameplay video.

Lastly, our art team has continued to work on assets for the level. But this week we have something a tad more exciting. Everyone loves loot, right? So we thought not why not show a quick gif of our first loot chest! To be clear, this isn’t the type of loot chest you will be able to buy from a store with real money. This is one of many container styles that will appear in the game world which you will be searching for weapons and items to give yourself an advantage in the match. Have a look!
